Remediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons contaminated soil by surfactants
2021-01-04 09:25:59

New gemini surfactants and biosurfactants are widely concerned because of their high efficiency and environmental friendliness. The solubilization efficiency of Gemini surfactants and biosurfactants is higher than that of traditional surfactants.

Surfactant enhanced remediation technology has become a very potential remediation technology of organic soil pollution. It mainly uses the solubilization of hydrophobic organic pollutants by surfactant solution to promote the desorption and dissolution of organic pollutants adsorbed on soil particles, and finally move out of the soil environment, so that the soil can be repaired. In bioremediation of contaminated soil, adding appropriate amount of surfactant when necessary can disperse microorganisms and promote their growth.

Gemini surfactant is a kind of surfactant with special molecular structure. Its molecule is composed of the ion head group of two surfactant monomers connected by a spacer through a chemical bond. Because of its special structure, it has a special microstructure; it has a special purpose, which can be used for the synthesis of mesoporous template, special chemical separation, etc.; for the Gemini surfactant which connects two different surfactant monomers on the head base, recent studies show that it has the properties of two kinds of surfactants.

Domestic and foreign scholars have carried out a lot of meaningful research and Exploration on the remediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) contaminated soil by surfactants. However, the existing researches mainly focus on traditional surfactants, which often have the problems of toxicity, secondary pollution and high price. Therefore, the search for economic, effective and environmental friendly new surfactants will become the research hotspot and focus of the application of surfactants in the remediation of PAHs contaminated soil in the future.
